Final Projects
Finals are coming up this week and I completed my final projects today. For Design II, we had a "pop art" project. We had to pick something popular from the 90s and repeat the image but we had to use different colors and color combinations. We had a choice to do 4 large, 6 medium or 12 small designs. I wanted to use more of the seriously expensive paper I had to buy for this class, which is small, so I ended up choosing the 12 small pieces. I chose Kurt Cobain as my subject matter. I did 12 different 6" x 9" backgrounds and then printed his image on transparency paper and layered it on top of the color designs. Overall I am happy with the finished result.
For Book Making, we had to create a Japanese stab-bound book. The assignment was to create a book inspired by the artist we chose at the beginning of the semester. I chose Van Gogh. I have to say it is not my favorite of the three that I made, but it is the end of the semester and my focus and creativity is waning. My overall theme was to add humor to his work, because Van Gogh was such a sad guy. Which is why I chose to add a surprise at the end.
